The World Social Forum: Challenges and Proposals, Back in Porto Alegre

The World Social Forum (WSF), celebrating its 10th anniversary, is set to begin on Monday, January 25th to 29th, 2010, in Porto Alegre, RS, Brazil.

Instead of converging to just one place, The World Social Forum will take place in a decentralized manner having at its core 27 national, regional and local events spread throughout the world along 2010.

In greater Porto Alegre, "The Social Forum 10 Years On" will be happening in Gravataí, Canoas, São Leopoldo, Novo Hamburgo and Sapiranga.

Given the importance of the date and of the event, some heads of state are to attend, amongst them: Lula, Evo Morales, Mojica and Fernando Lugo, from Latin America; as well as several other ministers and important Brazilian politicians such as the presidential hopefuls Dilma Rouseff and Marina silva, senator Heloísa Helena and congressman Ciro Gomes, all of them big names in Brazilian politics.

One of the chief events in this year's forum will be the International Seminar "10 Years On: Challenges and Proposals for Another Possible World" with over 70 intellectuals and other social leaders from all over the planet in attendance. The seminar will take place on the morning of the 25th.
